Show notes: This is my first episode of “Drawing Funny” for 2026. I usually don’t get political on this podcast, but after the last year we all went through, I had to share some of my thoughts and feelings on the state of affairs with the current administration. It’s at the beginning of the episode and I promise- it’s not too long of a rant. Hopefully you feel similarly on the subject, and are finding ways to deal with the craziness coming out of the capital.
In the news section I share info on our upcoming Mid-South Cartoonists Association Monthly Dinner Gatherings at Garibaldi’s Pizza (1st Tuesday of each month from 6-8pm), our ongoing MSCA “Art Of The Game” art show out at the Memphis Jewish Community Center, and the local con and art event schedule. Thanks to That Katie Jones for providing so much event info for this episode. There’s so many things going on around town these days that it’s really hard to keep up with it all!
I also share some sad news from MSCA friend and family Bob Kimball. Bob’s already beat cancer in 2025, and we send him much love and many good vibes his way as he prepares to fight against it again this year. Speaking of art shows, I pass along info on my solo “Family Portraits” airbrushed monsterpiece art show that’s going to be upstairs in the 2nd Floor West gallery at Playhouse On The Square June 6-August 2, 2026. I haven’t picked a date for an artist’s reception, but will announce it and soon as it’s nailed down. I’ll have prints and zines for sale, and free refreshments.
It’s the same gallery that the MSCA’s “Kitchen Sink” art show was this past summer. Gonna have to paint big to fill this hallway!!!
